Senior Backend Engineer (Onboarding Team)

About the Role:

Jaris is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to participate in the full application lifecycle, from coding to debugging, with a focus on building efficient, scalable systems. This role is critical in improving partner onboarding experience, shortening cycle times between application and offer, and accelerating the time to add new partners. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, takes ownership of projects, and enjoys solving complex challenges. 

What You’ll Do:

• Write clean, maintainable code to develop functional web applications in Java.
• Build APIs adhering to modern RESTful specifications.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize backend applications.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Understand and structure large-scale financial data applications.
• Build new systems and create innovative business workflows.
• Shorten cycle times between application and offer, and accelerate partner onboarding.
• Support onboarding operations, including handling support call requests and call flag messages, particularly in North America.
• Gather and address technical and design requirements.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
  
  

What We’re Looking For:

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
• 5 years of experience as a Backend Developer, preferably from fintech, adtech, or insurtech companies.
• Java, Spring Framework, REST Framework, SQL
• Interest or experience in leveraging large language models (LLMs) to enhance developer productivity, automate workflows, or enrich user experiences.
• Java microservices and distributed systems
• Strong understanding of finance, compliance, and banking operations strongly preferred.
• Ability to self-direct, take ownership, and work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
• Agility to move fast and adapt to changing priorities.
• DevOps experience is a plus
• Familiarity with front-end languages and technologies is a plus.
• Hybrid in-office 3 days per week.

Applicants can expect an annual base compensation in the range of $150,000 to $175,000 USD. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Jaris and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
