Heavy Equipment Operator

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operates heavy construction equipment, excavators, front end loaders, and other equipment as necessary.
• Perform pre and post shift inspections of equipment and trucks. Document any damage to equipment or services needed.
• Recognize hazardous conditions and report to supervisor.
• While operating equipment communicate with others using verbal and non-verbal hand signals
• Responsible for the safe and secure transportation of products
• Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup, and relocation of products and materials.
• Perform other additional labor related duties.
• Operate all Material Handling Equipment as required.
• Keep the truck, equipment, and tools clean and in good working order.
• Follow MSHA safety procedures.
• Perform any other tasks and duties as requested, directed, or assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of State Federal DOT Regulations for Drivers
• MSHA Miner Certification
• 2 years experience in a mine setting preferred.
• Ability to operate equipment under varying working conditions.
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations.
• Mechanical background a plus
• Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Able to complete job tasks safely and effectively without supervision.
• Able to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires prolonged sitting, driving, and MHE operations.
• Heavy lifting required, lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
• Must be able to stand / sit 8-15 hours per day.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move as part of normal work activities.

Work Environment:

• Location of position: Multiple Locations
• Background checks and drug tests required.
• Maintaining a valid drivers license and a clean driving record are required.
• Will be exposed to outside elements such as weather, noise, dust, odors, fumes, and oils.
• May be subject to sitting/standing for long periods of time to perform job scope.
• May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule.
