Jarbath Peña Law Group is seeking a proactive and bilingual Family Law Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. This role involves supporting attorneys in delivering exceptional client service by preparing legal documents, managing case files, and coordinating meetings. The ideal candidate will have experience in a law firm environment, be highly organized, and work efficiently under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyerCompile, organize and redact discovery documents
- Manage and organize case files for physical and virtual files
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and judicial assistants
- Provide case status updates to the clients
- Coordinate/schedule hearings with opposing counsel and judicial assistants
- Detailed billing for all legal tasks performed
- Assist lawyers in preparing for trial by creating and organizing and redacting exhibits
- Assist with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
- Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and
- Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
Qualifications
- Experience as a Family Law paralegal
- Talented communicator and writer
- Proficiency in legal drafting and document preparation
- Excellent organizational skills, and time-management skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Completion of a nationally-accredited paralegal program strongly preferred
- Knowledge of project management principles in a legal context
- Bi-lingual in Spanish/English or Haitian/Creole is preferred, but not required
