Assistant Packaging Lead

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Range: $19–$25 per hour
Expected Hours: 40 hours per week
Schedule: 4-day work week, 10-hour shifts
Reports To: Packaging Lead / Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Assistant Packaging Lead supports daily packaging operations to ensure cannabis products are packaged accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and Maine Office of Cannabis Policy regulations. This role assists with team leadership, workflow coordination, equipment operation, and compliance documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Team Support & Leadership
- Assist the Packaging Lead in supervising packaging staff.
- Provide support and guidance to team members during daily operations.
- Assist in resolving staff concerns professionally and promptly.
- Train team members on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety standards, and compliance requirements.
Packaging Operations
- Oversee packaging of cannabis flower and pre-roll products.
- Coordinate daily production tasks with the Packaging Lead based on order needs.
- Ensure packaging accuracy, labeling compliance, and product consistency.
- Follow and enforce workplace safety procedures.
Compliance & Data Management
- Accurately collect and record production data using spreadsheets, Dutchie, and Metrc systems.
- Apply compliance labels accurately and in accordance with state regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of current strains, product standards, and packaging requirements.
Equipment & Inventory
- Assist in setup, operation, and maintenance of packaging equipment.
- Monitor packaging supply levels and report shortages.
- Support inventory tracking and organization.
Communication
- Report quality concerns, discrepancies, or operational issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must obtain and maintain an Individual Identification Card (IIC) through the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy.
- Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality.
- Familiarity with weights and measurements; ability to operate a scale accurately.
- Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
- Experience with data entry and inventory systems preferred.
- Ability to work in a regulated cannabis environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work directly with dried cannabis flower.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work 10-hour shifts.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
