Position Summary
Jaques Lawn Care is seeking a dependable, hardworking Landscape Maintenance Technician to help maintain and enhance the beauty of our clients' landscapes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and has a passion for plants and landscape care.
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of plant identification, weed control, shrub care, and landscape maintenance practices while delivering exceptional service and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Identify common landscape plants, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and weeds.
- Hand-pull weeds and maintain weed-free landscape beds.
- Professionally install and replenish mulch.
- Prune and trim shrubs, bushes, ornamental trees, and perennials using proper horticultural practices.
- Edge and redefine landscape beds.
- Monitor the health of plants and identify signs of insects, disease, nutrient deficiencies, or stress.
- Apply landscape herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, or fertilizers in accordance with company procedures and state regulations (licensing preferred or willing to obtain).
- Remove debris, fallen branches, and seasonal plant material.
- Perform spring and fall landscape cleanups.
- Assist with landscape enhancements and seasonal color installations.
- Operate hand tools, power equipment, hedge trimmers, blowers, and other landscape equipment safely.
- Communicate any landscape concerns or recommendations to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while respecting clients' properties.
Qualifications
- Previous landscape maintenance, horticulture, nursery, or lawn care experience preferred.
- Knowledge of common trees, shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, and weeds.
- Basic understanding of proper pruning techniques and plant care.
- Ability to identify plant health issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Experience applying landscape chemicals is preferred (or willingness to obtain required licensing).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and light rain.
- Ability to safely operate landscape equipment and tools.
