- Operate a yard truck equipped with a hydraulic fifth wheel to move trailers and equipment within the yard and to nearby offsite locations
- Obey all traffic laws and follow established transportation and safety procedures
- Inventory and inspect goods to verify quantities and condition prior to movement
- Position trailers accurately at dock doors to support efficient loading and unloading operations
- Perform daily safety inspections of yard truck and related equipment; report defects or issues promptly to management
- Assist with loading and unloading trailers using manual methods or powered equipment (e.g., propane forklift) as required
- Maintain an organized yard by conducting routine checks of empty and loaded trailers to ensure proper placement and visibility
- Receive and offload inbound coil trucks for production while maintaining a clean and structured staging area
- Communicate effectively with yard personnel, shipping, receiving, and management to ensure safe and coordinated operations
- Support shipping and receiving functions and perform additional operational duties as needed
Job Specifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Class A CDL license required
- Current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required and must meet company driving standards
- One to three years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Regularly required to sit and operate a yard truck for extended periods
- Must be able to safely operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklift)
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
- Proficient in the use of RF scanning equipment
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety procedures
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday
- Must be able to perform tasks in a physically active environment, including climbing in and out of equipment as needed
