Overview
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and components required to support daily production, maintenance, and facility operations. This role ensures timely and cost-effective purchasing aligned with production schedules and logistics requirements.
Responsibilities
- Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Prepare purchase orders.
- Track status of requisitions and purchase orders.
- Evaluate inventory thresholds using ERP data & physical inventory count and initiate replenishment to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Ensure purchase orders align with production and logistics schedule.
- Review requisition orders to verify accuracy, terminology and specifications.
- Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
- Coordinate with suppliers to expedite shipments and resolve delivery issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to three years previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in a manufacturing environment; preferably in metal building components and accessories.
- Intermediate computer skills required; Outlook email, Word, Excel, ERP system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
