Job Title: General Manager
Reports To: Regional Director of Operations

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, financial performance, and operational excellence of the hotel. This role ensures alignment with brand standards, company policies, and guest expectations while driving profitability, team development, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Achieve departmental budget targets and monitor expense tracking systems across all hotel functions
  • Ensure compliance with labor standards and staffing guidelines
  • Oversee adherence to annual room rate plans and inventory control procedures
  • Submit annual Capital Expenditure and Repair & Maintenance budgets for corporate approval
  • Coordinate execution of approved capital projects with the Regional Director

Leadership & Team Development

  • Conduct daily stand-up meetings to foster interdepartmental communication and goal alignment
  • Establish annual incentive programs for department heads
  • Perform quarterly audits of departmental procedures and performance
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and support internal promotions and training initiatives
  • Maintain staffing levels in accordance with budgeted labor ratios and operational needs
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and brand training requirements
  • Encourage employee development through goal setting and structured training programs

Guest Experience & Brand Compliance

  • Conduct daily guest room inspections to uphold cleanliness and quality standards
  • Lead bi-weekly property inspections and approve action plans with timelines for resolution
  • Promote guest satisfaction to drive repeat business across leisure and group segments
  • Respond to guest complaints and ensure timely corrective action
  • Monitor brand and company guest feedback platforms within required timelines
  • Ensure compliance with franchise and company operating standards, including promotional materials and programs
  • Uphold the Manager-on-Duty (M.O.D.) program and ensure consistent execution across shifts
  • Attend required franchise training courses and ensure hotel-wide training compliance

Community Engagement

  • Represent the hotel positively by participating in local organizations and community initiatives
  • Foster relationships that enhance the hotel’s reputation and drive business opportunities

Qualifications Essential Skills

  • Proven leadership and operational management capabilities
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with strategic focus
  • Familiarity with franchise and corporate standards, or ability to quickly learn and apply them
  • Deep understanding of hotel departmental operations and procedures

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference given to graduates of accredited Hotel/Restaurant Management programs
  • Equivalent experience in hotel management may substitute for formal education
  • Prior experience with major hotel brands such as Marriott or Hilton highly desired
  • Select-service brand experience strongly preferred

Work Environment

  • Primarily an indoor role with protection from weather conditions
  • Occasional outdoor assignments (approx. 5%) including grounds inspections and exterior project oversight

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
