What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pet Caretaker position at Janry Pet Resort?
About the Role
This is a full-time position with shifts from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekends included.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:

- Health Monitoring: Actively observe animal behavior and physical condition, promptly reporting any health or safety concerns to management.
- Enrichment: Lead exercise sessions and social interactions for dogs in both group play and individual settings; provide care and attention to cats and other small guests.
Sanitation & Facility Maintenance
- Hygiene Standards: Clean and sanitize animal suites, play yards, and common areas to maintain a "gold-standard" environment.
- Waste Management: Frequent pickup and removal of animal waste to ensure a clean, odor-free facility.
- Janitorial Tasks: Manage high-volume laundry (pet bedding/towels), dishwashing (bowls/toys), and general cleaning of public lobby spaces.

What We’re Looking For
Mandatory Requirements
- Reliable Transportation: A valid driver’s license and your own personal vehicle are strictly required. Because our guests depend on us for their meals, meds, and care, consistent and timely attendance is a must.
- Drug-Free Environment: We are a drug-free workplace. To ensure the safety of our animals and our team, we perform random drug testing.
- Availability: Must have consistent weekend availability. Our peak times are when our clients are away, so being part of the weekend team is essential.
Reliability & Professionalism
- Personal Responsibility: We need individuals with a high level of maturity and reliability. Caring for living creatures requires a "no-show is not an option" mindset.
- Proactive Problem-Solvers: The ability to work independently, stay on task without constant supervision, and adapt quickly as situations change throughout the day.
- Strong Communication: Excellent skills in communicating with teammates and providing friendly, professional service to our human clients.
Physical & Animal Handling Skills
- Animal Proficiency: Comfort and confidence handling animals of all sizes, temperaments, and types. You should be as comfortable with a shy cat as you are with a high-energy large dog.
- Physical Capability: This is an active, labor-intensive role. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds for short distances and stay on your feet for the duration of your shift.
- Compassionate Mindset: A genuine love for animals and a patient, calm attitude toward the pets in our care.
Note: Previous experience is a plus, but not required. We are a drug-free workplace and perform random drug testing to ensure the safety of our animals and team.
