What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employer Relations & Donations Specialist position at Jannus Inc?
SUMMARY: Agency for New Americans (ANA), a program of Jannus Inc. is a refugee resettlement agency which provides initial and extended services to refugees, SIVs, asylees and Humanitarian parolee clients. ANA provides case management, employment, cash assistance, immigration, and community advisors program to newly arrived refugees up to five years after arriving in the U.S. All programs promote early self-sufficiency and social integration into the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employer Relations and Engagement 60%
- Play critical role in fostering and initiating recruitment of new employers by developing mutually beneficial relationships with various employers that can lead to the successful hiring and retentions of refugee clients;
- Collaborate with employer partners to identify current and emerging workforce skill needs, and align client placement to meet those needs.
- Maintain strong relationships with employers through regular communication and meetings;
- Represent ANA in organizations and at community events related to refugee career pathways;
- Collaborate with employment team and EE Supervisor to identify current and future refugee clients’ employment needs, sharing current employer partner lists, and expanding employer partner pool when gaps are identified;
- Manage all aspects of employer communications, providing responsive, high-quality customer services and maintaining accurate and up to date records of communications and data entry;
- Educate employer partners on refugee hiring practices, resettlement policies, and effective strategies for onboarding and supporting employees from refugee backgrounds.
Donation Specialist Duties 40%
- Develop a network of resources in the community that are necessary for the resettlement goals: furniture, household items, cars, clothes;
- Solicit donations through established partners and creatively incorporate the use of social media into efforts to expand our donation resources and build community partners, etc.;
- Manage phone calls from donors;
- Arrange for and pick up donations and deliver to refugee homes or storage unit;
- Maintain storage unit (basement) and pursue donated storage space, as well as alert staff to changes and availability of items;
- Keep accurate and complete records of contacts made and results obtained;
- Arranging toiletries baskets with volunteers for the first-of-the-month meetings and new arrivals
- Issue donation receipts to donors;
- Keep accurate records of in-kind donations;
- Coordinate with Diaper Bank and pick up diapers on monthly basis
- Collaborate actively with partners (LDS church and others) about different donation grants
- Track items given to specific families and complete the Client’s Supply List for each case;
- ANA Truck/Van maintenance (schedule regular tune-ups, oil change, etc.)
- Oversee/implement relevant group service projects;
- Provide support to the Community Resource Developer in various event and/or fundraising efforts;
- Working closely with Outreach Specialist to keep ANA website updated for needed donations;
- Regular and predictable attendance required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in community relations, and mobilizing community resources;
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to respond appropriately and effectively to changing circumstances and priorities;
- Good working knowledge of organizational resources in the private and public sectors;
- Ability to work as a team with other staff members;
- Understanding of the challenges facing newly resettled refugees;
- Demonstrate ability in managing multiple relationships and priorities;
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
- Ability to safely drive a moving truck;
- Ability to safely move furniture;
- Basic computer skills, knowledge of Word, Excel, and ability to use a database;
- Experience managing multiple competing tasks required; inventory management or logistics experience preferred;
- Excellent written and verbal skills;
- Experience using a variety of social media platforms;
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to show proof of the minimum state required automobile liability insurance;
- Ability to pass a criminal history background check and driving background check;
EDUCATION:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, social work or related field strongly preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- None required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in general office environment, drives a moving truck, and works in storage units.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to tolerate heat and cold, and to drive to merchant’s facilities, homes and apartments in varied weather conditions. Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing and descending steps while carrying loads, repeated hand and wrist motions (for computer use) are required. Requires frequent lifting of up to 75 pounds or more.
