Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Alterations Specialist, Tailor, or Seamstress to join us. In this role, you will make necessary alterations to garmets. Wedding dress and ballroom dress experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Measure customers accurately to determine necessary alterations and adjustments.
- Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications.
- Perform garment construction tasks such as hemming, taking in or letting out seams, replacing zippers, and repairing tears or damages.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including sewing stations and tools.
- Manage multiple alteration projects efficiently while adhering to quality standards.
- Keep detailed records of each alteration order for tracking and quality control purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience in sewing, garment construction, or tailoring within a retail or professional environment or be trained to do so.
- Familiarity with sewing machines, including operation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of fabric types, garment fitting techniques, and basic math skills for measurements and adjustments.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
