DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
The Systems Engineer works with engineering, finance, contracts, and sales to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes, and enable data-driven decisions. This role combines hands-on systems engineering with process improvement, including maintaining enterprise systems, leading technical projects, automating workflows, and monitoring metrics to track efficiency, quality, and trends. By connecting systems with operational needs, the position supports accurate quoting, contract execution, and program delivery.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary technical and operational liaison between finance, contracts, and sales within engineering.
- Identify inefficiencies in workflows, systems, and data exchange, and implement process improvements.
- Maintain, secure, and optimize enterprise systems supporting engineering programs and business operations.
- Lead technical projects from concept to implementation, including system upgrades, deployments, and integrations.
- Automate repetitive tasks and workflows to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
- Develops and monitors metrics, KPIs, and performance reports to assess efficiency, quality, and trends.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy across engineering, finance, contracts, and sales systems.
- Translate technical concepts into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Coordinate across teams to resolve issues, streamline processes, and achieve operational goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience owning, managing, or administering systems in an enterprise or engineering environment.
- Experience with systems supporting workflows, data processes, or cross-team operations (Engineering, Finance, True Contracts, or Sales).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Expertise in at least one technical domain: server administration, networking, virtualization, cloud architecture, enterprise security, or workflow automation.
- Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Security certification or equivalent DoD 8570-compliant certification.
- Experience leading system or process improvement projects in engineering or business operations.
- Hands-on experience with automation, monitoring metrics/KPIs, and data-driven process optimization.
DETAILED WAGE INFORMATION
Wage range for this role is between $83,000 - $145,000, plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
