Job Summary
Janet Medina Brand is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Seamstress to join our luxury womenswear atelier in San Jose, CA. Our brand specializes in refined silhouettes, structured garments, and hand-embellished pieces featuring healing crystals. We are looking for someone who brings exceptional craftsmanship and a professional, respectful, and proactive work ethic. This is an on-site role, requiring presence in the studio, consistent communication, and a strong sense of urgency while maintaining luxury-level quality.
Responsibilities
- Execute high-quality garment construction including cutting, sewing, pressing, and finishing.
- Work confidently with luxury, delicate, and structured fabrics.
- Perform precise alterations to ensure impeccable fit and polished, couture-level results.
- Follow patterns, measurements, and design specifications with accuracy and consistency.
- Manage tasks with urgency while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Operate industrial and home sewing machines (straight stitch, overlock/serger, coverstitch, etc.) with expertise.
- Assist with sample development and small-batch atelier production.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and organized workspace.
- Communicate clearly, stay present, and collaborate efficiently with the designer.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a seamstress or tailor in high-end, designer, bridal, or couture apparel.
- Advanced construction, finishing, and alteration skills.
- Ability to interpret patterns, tech packs, and measurements with precision.
- Experience working with luxury textiles including silk, satin, viscose, stretch materials, and structured fabrics.
- Strong sense of urgency, responsibility, and time management.
- Professional, respectful attitude and commitment to consistent presence and communication.
- Must be able to work in-person at our San Jose atelier.
