Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Outpatient Therapist to join our dynamic mental health team. In this role, you will provide high-quality outpatient psychotherapy services to individuals and couples across diverse age groups, including adolescents, teens and adults. Your expertise will help clients navigate mental health challenges, develop coping strategies, and improve their overall well-being. We are a growing practice and offer Supervision for new graduates, as well as hours towards licensure (please verify your degree type with Dr. Carter during interview). Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to determine client needs and treatment plans.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling utilizing therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, IFS, and DBT.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to ensure client safety during acute episodes and manage crisis situations with effective crisis management techniques.
- Develop tailored treatment plans addressing specific issues such as PTSD, grief, addiction, gender issues, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, chronic pain, and other behavioral health concerns.
- Assist with or perform Psychological Assessments for ADHD, LDs, Autism Spectrum, Psychotic Disorders, etc.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations while utilizing medical terminology appropriately for clinical notes and reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management efforts to coordinate care for clients with complex needs or disabilities.
- Engage in ongoing clinical research and data collection to improve treatment outcomes and stay current with best practices in behavioral health.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or Doctorate in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- License eligible or valid licensure in CT as a Psychologist, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), or equivalent state credentialing for outpatient therapy practice.
- Experience working with teens, adolescents, or adults in outpatient settings is a bonus; experience with hospital or clinic environments is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and other evidence-based modalities.
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnostic purposes and CPT coding for billing procedures.
- Experience delivering telehealth services using secure platforms is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle crisis situations effectively through crisis management techniques; experience working with individuals experiencing trauma or PTSD is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations including those with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
