Responsibilities
- Assume leadership responsibilities for nursing staff during weekend shifts, ensuring smooth operations and high standards of patient care.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations to inform treatment plans.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and manage airway devices such as ventilators with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care including medical documentation, discharge planning, and utilization review in compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations.
- Supervise nursing procedures such as catheter care, sterile processing, specimen collection, suturing, and tube feeding while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of medical records and clinical data.
- Lead team management efforts by supervising nursing staff, managing care facility teams, and ensuring adherence to nursing policies and long-term care regulations.
Experience
- Proven critical care experience in settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers with familiarity in acute pain management and airway management.
- Extensive background working with diverse populations including geriatrics, behavioral health patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or memory care needs.
- Demonstrated expertise in medical-surgical nursing, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, pediatric or neonatal ventilator management.
- Skilled in ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding for procedures like cardiac catheterization or spinal taps, and utilization management practices.
- Supervisory experience managing nursing teams within long-term care facilities or assisted living environments; familiar with nurse management principles.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth; experience working under hospital policies aligned with NCQA standards and HIPAA compliance.
- Knowledge of physical examinations, medical terminology, laboratory procedures including phlebotomy and specimen processing; adept at patient assessment and vital signs monitoring.
