Patient Care Coordinator - Medical

The Jamestown Family Health Clinic is seeking a professional, compassionate, and customer-service-focused Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) to join our healthcare team. The Patient Care Coordinator plays an important role in creating a welcoming and positive experience for patients while supporting the daily operations of the clinic.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and takes pride in providing exceptional service. The PCC will provide patient care coordination and customer service while performing a variety of receptionist, clerical, financial, and administrative functions in support of our patients and business office.

Typical duties include answering and routing telephone calls, scheduling appointments, interacting with patients, collecting co-payments and outstanding balances, posting payments, and verifying and updating insurance information.

Schedule

40 hours/week | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Some Saturdays, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM

Essential Functions

• Quickly and accurately route and manage incoming calls from multi-line phones including the composure and routing of messages.

• Greet patients and visitors in a timely, professional, courteous, and friendly manner.

• Check patients in for their appointments quickly and accurately.

• Collect, verify, and input patient demographic data and insurance information.

• Schedule patient appointments in the correct format for 25 providers.

• Scan insurance cards into the electronic health record.

• Assist patients with general tasks (completing paperwork, forms, calling a taxi, etc.).

• Accurately collect and post patient co-payments.

• Participate in clinic meetings.

• Adhere to all JST policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, and work practices as described in the Occupational Exposure Control Plan and HIPPA.

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree preferred.

• Two (2) years of customer service required, one (1) year of reception experience in a clinic setting preferred.

• Basic money handling/management, and office equipment experience.

• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suites, 10-Key, and keyboarding at more than 40 wpm.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication.

• Excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

• Must be able to successfully pass criminal background investigation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Washington State Medical Assistant Certification eligibility for level A. C. E. preferred.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical billing processes preferred.

• Effective time management, decision-making, and problem solving skills.

• American Indian/Alaska Native preferences apply.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Must be available to work any shift (to include all hours, weekends, and/or holidays as job duties require).

• Must be able to lift, push and carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted.

• Physical ability to access all areas of the property applicable to your position.

• Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, squatting and twisting without restriction.

• Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity; ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

• Must have the ability to reach at or below/above shoulder level on a continuous basis.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, proper mental attitude while dealing effectively with customers, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
