About the Role:
As TotalBoat Videographer and Editor, you will lead the end-to-end video production for product content and brand storytelling. You’re a story-minded individual who is experienced in managing, shooting and editing for more than one concurrent project in a dynamic brand-centric environment. You’ll play a crucial role in creating compelling video content that captivates our brand’s audiences across multiple channels. You will also be instrumental in establishing the brand’s visual style for a range of video formats.
You’ll spend 70% of your time editing videos, 20% on-set as a videographer, and 10% in pre-production (storyboarding and script writing). The position is in-studio located in Bristol, Rhode Island.
What you’ll do:
- Plan & manage video shoots from a creative brief to deliver ecommerce product videos, and additional brand content including social assets, how-to videos and long format project videos.
- Lead end to end video production including brainstorming of ideas, planning, production, shooting and post-production editing.
- Help to establish TotalBoat’s visual style, and formalize brand guidelines relative to video content.
- Edit (multi-cam) footage with speed and efficiency.
- Operate cameras and setup audio/lighting for shoots.
- Concept creative outlines and storyboards as needed for cross functional team alignment.
- Ensure each video meets brand standards and guidelines to ensure consistency in quality, visual composition and style; and tonality for all TotalBoat creative.
- Select and use music to match the tone and style of the story, and apply audio processing, equalization, and additional sound design elements.
- Regularly communicate with and incorporate feedback from project stakeholders.
- Implement best practices for file sharing, file storage, and archiving completed project assets.
- Ensures the camera, lighting and edit bay equipment is maintained and fully functional.
- Create supporting digital assets, titles, and motion graphics, as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams, freelancers, and brand ambassadors to create best in class content.
What you’ll bring:
- B.S. or B.A. in Media, Video Production and Motion Graphics, Communications, Advertising, or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of professional experience in video content creation, including expertise in editing.
- An impressive portfolio that showcases product and brand-centric video assets across a variety of channels including social and ecom.
- A genuine passion for the TotalBoat community including makers, boaters, and artists.
- An interest in youtube, social-media platforms, and cultural trends as a way to connect and stay relevant with consumers.
- Strong technical skills, including: Video editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro), audio editing software, video cameras, sound, and lighting equipment.
- Preferred skills would also include: Graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator), or motion graphics software (e.g. Adobe After Effects)
- Strong visual storytelling skills, with experience storyboarding to help others to visualize the result.
- Self-driven and able to easily communicate creative solutions with various stakeholders.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, with a high attention to detail.
- Flexible approach to project development, with outside of the box thinking – a proven ability to work in unconventional ways and creatively problem solve.
