Position Description

Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 2nd Shift (2:00pm - 10:00pm). Performs routine groundskeeping on assigned campus, as needed. Performs routine building cleaning tasks and assists in minor maintenance duties. Work involves some strenuous manual labor and the operation of heavy landscaping and cleaning equipment. The work involves the thorough execution of tasks, which follow a well-established routine under general supervision.

Essential Functions

• Performs a variety of groundskeeping work including but limited to:
• Landscaping
• Weeding, trimming, etc.
• Mowing lawns and trimming hedges
• Rolling, re-seeding and fertilizing lawns
• Removing paper and litter from grounds
• Planting and caring for trees, shrubs and flowers
• Ability to operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment
• May perform routine maintenance and repairs on grounds equipment, as needed.
• Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, steps and building entrances, excluding any work that involves driving a plow truck.
• Performs a variety of routine building cleaning tasks including but limited to:
• Sweeping, mopping, and washing floors and stairwells.
• Cleaning window glass inside and out, including windowsills.
• Vacuuming carpets
• Spot cleaning carpets using proper chemicals and equipment.
• Operating buffer, auto scrubber, floor maintainer, extractor, etc., as needed
• Strips and waxes floors.
• Cleans restrooms and locker room and replenishes supplies.
• Dusts and cleans furniture.
• Collects and disposes of trash and recyclables.
• Washes walls, lockers, doors and showcases.
• Washes and cleans venetian blinds.
• Ensures all exterior doors, office doors and classroom doors are locked prior to departure.
• Cleans all assigned areas as directed per standards set forth by the College.
• Performs duties required for special event set up and reset, including moving furniture, as assigned.
• Ability to work successfully individually and in a team environment.
  

Qualifications

Required: Working knowledge of groundskeeping and cleaning methods, materials and equipment; ability to follow oral and written directions; manual dexterity.

Valid and current driver’s license. Confirmation following DMV check that driving record meets standards set forth by the college’s liability insurance carrier.

Additional Information

Salary: $15.55 - $16.64/hour. Excellent benefits package, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, and NYS retirement.
