Civil Service Position*
Provisional appointment pending successful placement on Civil Service list.
School Secretary 10 Months 2 Weeks
- Answers telephone and acts as receptionist for an office;
- Performs general office duties (which may include taking dictation), handling general correspondence and reports, filing;
- Acts as information clerk where a general knowledge of personnel, organization, department activities and established practices are involved;
- Prepares, copies, and distributes bulletins, notices and other announcements as required;
- Distributes mail and supplies to staff;
- May assign work, review and record work done, and instruct new employees in the specialized clerical work of a unit;
- Assists in proofreading typewritten and printed material;
- Reviews reports and other documents for completeness, accuracy and conformity with established procedure;
- Answers telephone, gives routine information to the public and makes appointments for superior;
- Enters and retrieves computer database records.
- Sets up and maintains current records pertaining to student enrollment and attendance;
- Keeps journal of early dismissals, prepares and submits attendance reports;
- Maintains "lost and found".
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

- Use of the Spanish language (reading, writing, translation) preferred

7 ¾ hours/5 days
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school diploma and:
A. Completion of two (2) years of training in a recognized business or secretarial school with emphasis
on secretarial practices, and one year of clerical experience; OR
B. Completion of one (1) year of training in a recognized business or secretarial school with emphasis on secretarial
practices, and two (2) years of clerical experience; OR
C. Three (3) years of clerical experience, two of which shall have involved secretarial duties; OR
D. Any equivalent combination of experience and training as defined by the limits of A, B and C above.
