REPORTS TO: Principal
DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in the areas of leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the principal in the supervision and evaluation of the performance of school personnel in accordance with the Districts adopted uniform guidelines for evaluation and assessment.
- Helps monitor the progress of students, and supervises the reports of such progress to parents.
- Oversees student discipline, implementation of the buildings Code of Conduct consistent with legislation and local policy, works collaboratively with student, teachers, and community members to make revisions when deemed appropriate.
- Assists in the supervision of the curricular programs of the school.
- Assists the principal in developing and implementing instructional strategies.
- Assists in the responsibility for ensuring proper attendance procedures.
- Under the direction of the principal, actively participates in all Crisis Intervention Team activities.
- Participates as liaison among school, parents, community and appropriate school personnel at all levels within district.
- Uses a participatory management system which is positive and productive for students, staff and community.
- Strives to create a school climate which is positive and productive for students, staff and community.
- Supervises the extracurricular activities of the school when assigned.
- Participates in hearings and appeals at appropriate levels and/or assists in the oversight of appeals.
- Provides building and extracurricular supervision when appropriate.
- Maintains parent contacts related to student behavior and attendance.
- Assists with transitions and/or orientation at appropriate levels.
- Works collaboratively with outside law enforcement and community agencies on safety, wellness, attendance and behavioral concerns.
- Oversees traffic safety along with the registration of student parking permits at appropriate level.
- Attends and contributes to CSE meetings, as requested.
- Manages the 504 and CST process and meetings when assigned.
- Assists in the creation and supervision of applicable exam scheduling and staff assignments.
- Applies District approved evaluation processes to all District staff.
- Assists in oversight of maintenance of building and grounds and reports problems to authorized staff.
- Attends and participates in student, staff and school related community functions when assigned.
- Manages time effectively so that priorities are attended to in an effective manner.
- Interacts with parent, student, and staff concerns in a sensitive, timely manner.
- Returns all phone calls from parents/guardians within 24 hours received in compliance with legislation and local policy. (Continued)
- Helps to ensure proper maintenance and control of site-based and student funds.
- Serves as the principal-designee when so designated by the principal or Superintendent.
- Assist in the Supervision of transportation issues and scheduling problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $67,000-$100,000
