đź’Ľ Field Service Engineer (Automated Inspection & Sorting Equipment)

📍 Denver, CO (home-based) | 75% travel, US and international

đź’° Up to $40/hr per diem mileage reimbursement

Production lines run fast, and when something stops, the customer needs someone on site who can get it running again. That’s this role, and you’ll start it with three weeks of hands-on training in Europe.

I’m working with an established manufacturer of high-tech automated inspection and sorting equipment, used by producers across a range of industries. Their systems sit at the heart of their customers’ production lines, helping them hit tight quality standards at high throughput.

They’re growing their US service team and adding a Field Service Engineer based in either Sacramento or Denver. You don’t need to have worked on their type of equipment before. Your first three weeks are spent in Europe learning the machines inside out from the people who design and build them. From there, you’ll be supporting customers whose equipment is configured for their own product and process, so the work is varied and no two sites look the same. Their customer base spans North America and beyond, so you’ll split your time between domestic visits and international trips.

What’s In It For You:

  • Up to $40/hr
  • Per diem and mileage reimbursement whenever you’re on the road
  • A company card for work expenses
  • Three weeks of hands-on product training in Europe to start
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off and sick leave
  • A company that keeps investing in R&D, so your technical skills stay current
  • A close-knit, growing business that gives you the freedom to shape your own role and career path

What You’ll Do:

  • Diagnosing and fixing electrical, mechanical and software faults on customer equipment
  • Supporting customers remotely by phone and online connection when you’re not on site
  • Installing and commissioning new systems at customer facilities
  • Training customer teams to operate, adjust and carry out basic fault-finding on their equipment
  • Recommending maintenance routines that keep production lines running at full output
  • Passing recurring field issues and improvement ideas back to the service and engineering teams
  • Working closely with the wider service team, reporting into service management

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3–5 years in a service technician or field service engineering role, with hands-on machinery experience
  • A degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or the hands-on experience to match
  • Confident electrical fault-finding on AC power and DC control circuits
  • Solid mechanical ability, and you’re comfortable reading wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
  • PLC experience (Siemens a plus), along with a working knowledge of industrial networking
  • Good everyday computer skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A valid passport (or the ability to get one), and you’re based in or near Sacramento or Denver
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, ready for longer days during peak season when customers need you most

Why This Opportunity Stands Out:

Most field service roles have you learning on the job and figuring out the equipment in front of a customer. Here, you start with three weeks of dedicated training in Europe with the people who build the machines, so you go into the field confident. After that, every installation is configured around a different product and process, so you’ll keep learning and build automation and inspection skills that transfer anywhere. With domestic and international travel, and a growing business where your field experience shapes how the US service operation develops, there’s real room to grow your career.
