General Description
The duties of a Summer Student Helper is to assist with cleaning of the school buildings and maintenance. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and/or Senior Custodian in each building.
DUTIES:
Cleaning of various sections of the building, including corridors, offices, classrooms, toilet areas, auditoriums, gymnasiums, lunchrooms, and any function rooms etc. Moving of furniture in preparation for stripping and waxing of floors for summer cleaning is required. Assisting with maintenance may be required working in the outside environment.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- One (1) year custodial, grounds maintenance or other related work experience preferred.
- Ability to take direction and be responsible for carrying out tasks safely.
- Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate to heavy physical effort is required to perform these duties. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand for extended periods of time, as well as sit, speak, hear and use hands to operate equipment. The employee occasionally lifts objects weighing up to 45 pounds. Ability to operate a motor vehicle if over age 18. A satisfactory pre-employment physical and CORI check is required. Fingerprinting is required for all school employees.
