Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort.
- Support clinical procedures such as medication administration, wound dressing changes, X-ray preparation, and basic life support (BLS) protocols.
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient encounters accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- Manage medical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and ensure clinical areas are clean and organized.
- Conduct ICD coding for diagnoses to facilitate billing processes and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, coordinating appointments, and ensuring a positive experience in outpatient clinics or hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in clinical settings such as hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and patient care procedures across diverse specialties including dermatology, geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or medical-surgical units.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in ICD coding for accurate documentation.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications like X-ray operation or OR experience are a plus.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement, medication administration, specimen collection, and assisting with imaging procedures.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on compassionate patient service and teamwork within high-pressure environments like emergency medicine or trauma centers.
