Role Description This contract Paralegal role is a hybrid position based in Lansing, MI, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Paralegal will assist attorneys with case preparation, including organizing files, drafting routine legal documents, and managing correspondence. Daily tasks include conducting legal research, reviewing and summarizing discovery materials, and preparing exhibits and supporting documentation for hearings and trials. The role also involves maintaining case calendars, tracking deadlines, and ensuring accurate, up-to-date case records. The Paralegal will communicate with clients, courts, and other parties in a professional manner, supporting efficient case progression.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law and familiarity with criminal defense procedures and terminology.
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting motions, pleadings, and routine correspondence.
- Effective Communication skills for interacting with attorneys, clients, courts, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to perform detailed Research using legal databases and other reliable sources.
- Attention to detail in Document Review, including analyzing discovery, contracts, and case materials.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with common office software and legal case management systems.
