Job Summary:
This position is responsible for repairing barges and related materials, with work performed in a fabrication shop and/or dry dock environment. Openings are available on first shift (6:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) and second shift (2:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m.). The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, with overtime and weekend work assigned as needed.
What you'll do:
- Operate welding torch, weld materials, and fit parts for welding.
- Ensure watertight welds in all areas and maximum amount of footage for the type, conditions, and location of welds with few to no leaks.
- Lay out and install large panels or complex shapes of steel with little to no supervision.
- Trouble shoot and align steel to industry standards.
- Measure, layout, square and crop damaged steel for removal with crane.
- Perform difficult and repetitive tasks in a variety of uncomfortable work environments and adverse weather conditions.
- Use torches and other cutting tools efficiently and safely.
- Follow the company, state, and federal safety regulations. This includes wearing proper protective equipment and keeping work areas clean and well organized.
- Ability to handle several welding construction and repair assignments with full accuracy and efficiency.
What you'll need:
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior shipyard welding/fitting experience preferred.
- Skilled in power and hand tool operations.
