Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, providing outstanding customer service at the front desk
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal clinic flow
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes
- Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including updating medical records and collecting co-pays
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages
- Maintain accurate dental records, medical documentation review, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Assist with billing and coding tasks, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing procedures using EMR systems like Meditech or Athenahealth
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and office administrative procedures
- Proficiency in dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR systems like Meditech or Athenahealth is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and familiarity with health information management systems
- Experience with insurance verification, medical coding (CPT, ICD), and medical billing processes in a healthcare setting
- Ability to review documentation accurately while ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in clinic experience or medical office experience
- Strong communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette and customer service excellence
- Prior front desk or medical receptionist experience in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred
