Position Summary:
The job of the Elementary Principal is to provide administrative and instructional leadership to staff, with specific responsibilities including, but not limited to, workforce management, curriculum planning, review and implementation, and professional development. The Building Principal is responsible for building administration and the safety and welfare of both students and staff.
- This job reports to the Deputy Superintendent of Administration
- This position is a 200-day, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
- Salary Range of $88,757 - $138,637.
- Administrators with a Doctorate will earn an annual stipend of $2000.
- Administrators with a Specialist will earn an annual stipend of $1000.
- For each year as a BSSD administrator, the employee will earn $200 annually.
Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and district regulations and policies.
- Fosters a positive school culture that supports student success and growth.
- Builds and maintains relationships with students, caregivers, and district stakeholders to encourage academic and social success.
- Monitors student progress and implements strategies to improve performance.
- Supervises and manages all building staff personnel and serves as the first level resolution for staff conflicts and issues.
- Recommends assignment of teachers to classrooms and students to classes.
- Provides general supervision to students.
- Supervises extracurricular activities.
- Observe and evaluate the performance of teachers and staff using board-approved procedure and documentation.
- Provides in-service training to teachers as needed.
- Prepares the school budget for recommendation to the school finance officer.
- Participates in district-wide activities, in-services, committees, as appropriate.
- Lead building in collaboration with district offices to achieve the objectives of the District Strategic Plan.
- Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on program and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; skill in oral and written communication.

Education/Experience/Certification:
Must hold a valid Missouri Elementary Administration Certificate. Administrative experience required.
