- The James L. Hamner Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Children’s Programming Coordinator whose primary responsibility is to plan, deliver, and grow high‑quality children’s programs, including storytimes, early literacy activities, and youth engagement events. In addition to leading children’s programming, this position supports community outreach efforts, volunteer coordination, and public engagement to strengthen the Library’s connection with families and the broader community.
- Primary Duties Children’s Programming
- Plan, develop, and lead core children’s programming, including weekly storytimes, early literacy activities, seasonal programs, and special events.
- Create engaging, developmentally appropriate content that supports literacy, learning, and family engagement.
- Build relationships with parents, caregivers, schools, and youth‑serving organizations to strengthen program participation.
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment for children and families.
- Track attendance, collect feedback, and evaluate program effectiveness to guide future planning.
- Secondary Duties — Outreach & Community Engagement
- Support outreach strategies that promote Library services to families, schools, and community partners.
- Represent the Library at community events, school visits, and public presentations.
- Assist with developing collaborative programs with local organizations.
- Create marketing content for children’s programs and outreach activities, including social media posts, flyers, and newsletters.
- Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise volunteers who assist with children’s programs and outreach events.
- Administrative & Circulation Support
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and record‑keeping for programming and outreach.
- Provide circulation and front desk support as needed.
- Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience planning or leading children’s programs, storytimes, or youth activities.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills, especially with children and families.
- Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging youth programming.
- Ability to supervise volunteers effectively.
- Basic marketing skills, including social media content creation.
- organizational and administrative abilities.
- Ability to collect and interpret data to measure program impact.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay: $38,000.00 - $55,006.42 per year
