Job Overview
Lifeguards are certified first responders who are responsible for ensuring the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the pool and cabana area. Under general supervision of the Pool Administrator and Events Specialist, responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing the pool safety, maintaining cleanliness of the area, and enforcing pool policies. Must be certified in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and AED. The lifeguard will work in conjunction with other pool staff to complete basic pool maintenance, janitorial duties, and upkeep of pool towel program, with patron safety being their top priority.
Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor the swimming area to ensure the safety of all patrons.
- Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe and orderly environment and prevent incidents from occurring.
- Respond quickly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents, including water rescues and first aid situations.
- Conduct routine inspections of the swimming area, cabana, equipment, and pool furniture to identify any hazards or maintenance issues.
- Take pool chemical readings and record in the logbook.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons with inquiries, providing information, and offering assistance as needed.
- Maintain proficiency in water rescue techniques, CPR, and first aid through regular training and certification updates. (Must hold valid lifeguard certification)
- Collaborate with other lifeguards, pool staff, and maintenance to create a cohesive team environment and facilitate pool operations.
- Keep accurate records of incidents, accidents, and rescues, and report any incidents to Pool Manager.
- Follow inclement weather procedures in accordance with Walker Golf Course, evacuate and close the pool as needed.
- Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as assigned to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the swimming area and surrounding facilities following the daily checklists.
Experience
- Prior lifeguard experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates
- Certification in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid is essential; certifications must be current upon employment
- Ability to swim confidently and perform water rescues when needed
- Experience with pool maintenance or cleaning is a plus but not mandatory
- Comfortable performing heavy lifting tasks related to pool equipment or supplies
- Strong guest service skills with a positive attitude and excellent communication abilities
