Role Description The Electrician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Upper Marlboro, MD. The Electrician will install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment, including wiring, panels, lighting, and related components for commercial and government projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, performing system troubleshooting, conducting routine inspections, and ensuring work complies with applicable codes and safety standards. The role also involves supporting structured cabling, fire alarm, AV, and security system installations as needed, collaborating with project teams, and documenting work performed. The Electrician will be expected to maintain tools and materials, follow company procedures, and provide professional customer service on job sites.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in electricity and electrical work, including safe handling of electrical systems and components.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance & repair of commercial electrical infrastructures and equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical issues and diagnosing system faults efficiently and accurately.
- Understanding of electrical engineering principles relevant to system installation, design, and performance.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, OSHA).
- Experience with structured cabling, fire alarm, AV, and security systems is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with project managers, technicians, and clients.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant electrician license or certification for Maryland, and a valid driver’s license.
- Previous experience in commercial or government projects is preferred.
