Diagnostics and TestingTest drive vehicles to find performance issues.Connect computers to car systems to read trouble codes.Inspect brake pads, rotors, and fluid levels.Check belts, hoses, and spark plugs for wear.Repair and MaintenanceChange engine oil, oil filters, and air filters.Replace broken or worn-out parts like alternators or starters.Repair leaks in exhaust and cooling systems.Align wheels and balance tires.Record Keeping and Customer ServiceWrite down all work done and parts used.Explain repairs and costs to vehicle owners.Give price estimates before starting major jobs.Follow safety rules in the shop at all times.
