Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine individual needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and medication management.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient care activities thoroughly and accurately.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, and imaging procedures like sonography or mammography when applicable.
- Support complex procedures including catheterization, suturing, ostomy care, and ventilator management while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Coordinate discharge planning and case management efforts to ensure seamless transitions of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Engage in patient education on health coaching topics such as medication administration, nutrition, wound care, and disease management including infectious disease control or dementia care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in specialties like ICU/CCU (Critical Care Unit), trauma medicine at Level I or II trauma centers, pediatric units (PICU), neonatal units (Neonatal Ventilator), or hospice & palliative medicine teams.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and adhere to all safety protocols including infection control standards.
- Participate in triage activities in urgent care or emergency room environments to prioritize patient needs effectively.
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN) with current registration in the practicing state.
- Proven experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems) such as Epic or Cerner.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced nursing skills including IV insertion, medication administration, aseptic technique, and patient assessment.
- Experience across multiple healthcare settings such as hospital medicine, medical-surgical units, ICU/CCU, emergency medicine, long-term care facilities (nursing homes), assisted living or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of specialized areas including cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (including post-op care), geriatrics (memory care & dementia), behavioral health, pediatric & neonatal nursing (neonatal ventilator), occupational health or hospice & palliative medicine.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving acute pain management, trauma medicine at Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers experience.
- Familiarity with coding systems like ICD-10/ICD-9 for diagnostic evaluation and CPT coding for procedures is preferred.
- Strong communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Pay: $50.00 - $100.00 per hour
