Accountant, Sr.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary 

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties as assigned:

• Performs a wide variety of regular and recurring moderately complex accounting functions requiring full professional competency in accordance with GAAP.
• Month-End closing responsibilities including detailed account and transaction analysis.  Maintain documentation supporting account balances and transactions.
• Monthly reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts. Prepare General Ledger Journal Entries.
• Prepare financial statements on a computerized accounting system.  Create financial reporting packages for senior management.
• Prepare management reports which include historical results, budget, forecasts, and/or financial trends. 
• Creates and maintains highly complex Excel spreadsheets containing detailed financial information.
• Supports the fulfillment of external reporting requirements including government surveys, taxes, and audit requirements.
• Design, implement, and maintain effective internal controls.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience/Knowledge

Position requires completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 2-4 years of experience in accounting/finance role, or equivalent education and experience. Microsoft Office:  Excel & Word.  Accounting software: Epicor V10 preferred.

Responsibility

This job is responsible for following a series of logically and directly related orders, tasks and procedures while working under moderate supervision.  The work sequence and specific assignments may vary on a daily or weekly basis.  Work progress is reviewed less frequently and usually on a spot check basis.  Errors in work affect the accuracy or reliability of further processes or services.

Language Skill

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures.  
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers.  

Mathematical Skills 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
