What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director position at Jambo Daycare?
Ready to Help Build Something Special?
We're opening a brand new Jambo Daycare location, and we need an amazing Assistant Director to help bring it to life! If you love the sound of kids laughing, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and get excited about building something from the ground up, this is your opportunity. You'll partner with the Director to create a space where little ones from all walks of life can learn, play, and grow -- and where the team behind it all has just as much fun doing it.
At Jambo, inclusivity isn't just a word on a wall -- it's who we are. Our families and staff come from all kinds of backgrounds, cultures, and languages, and that diversity is what makes our community so special. We're looking for someone who celebrates those differences and knows how to make every family feel welcome the moment they walk through our doors.
What Your Days Will Look Like
No two days are the same at Jambo, and that's what makes it great! Here's a taste of what you'll be up to:
- Team up with the Director to get our new location up and running and keep it thriving.
- Create a warm, safe, and joyful space where every child -- no matter their background, language, or culture -- feels right at home.
- Keep things running like a well-oiled (but very colorful) machine -- from classroom supplies to daily schedules.
- Be the go-to mentor and cheerleader for our diverse and amazing teaching staff.
- Jump into the fun stuff -- brainstorming new programs, activities, and ways to make our center even better.
- Stay on top of the behind-the-scenes work like record-keeping and scheduling (someone's gotta do it!).
- Build real connections with families from all backgrounds and create a community that feels like, well, family.
- Set the tone every day with positivity, energy, patience, and a whole lot of heart.
You Might Be Our Perfect Match If You...
- Are a natural-born leader who can juggle a million things and still keep smiling.
- Have hands-on experience in early childhood education or childcare management.
- Are patient, culturally aware, and comfortable connecting with families and children from diverse backgrounds, including those who may speak different languages.
- Know your way around Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and aren't afraid of a spreadsheet.
- Can talk to just about anyone -- parents, staff, kiddos -- and make them feel heard and valued, regardless of where they come from.
- Love coaching and developing a team to be their very best.
- Are at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED (bonus points for further education in early childhood education!).
- Are passionate about keeping kids safe, the center clean, and the vibes fun.
- Can pass a background check and complete the Nebraska Child and Adult Abuse and Neglect Central Registry.
- Bilingual or multilingual? That's a huge plus, but not required!
The Good Stuff (A.K.A. Why You'll Love It Here)

- Paid time off (PTO) -- rest up, recharge, come back refreshed.
- Reduced childcare tuition for your own little ones.
- Professional development stipend -- we invest in your growth.
- A workplace where creativity, collaboration, and laughter are part of the daily routine.
