Basic Job Description

• Teach beginner/intermediate violin students
• Ability to teach advanced students and additional instruments preferred
• Efficiently manage your time and administrative responsibilities, keep track of lesson scheduling, student progress, and communicate assignments and progress with student/parent
• Actively contribute to creating a vibrant and welcoming culture within the school
• Provide organized, professional lessons that are adapted to the individual needs of each student
• Receive positive feedback from students, parents, and peers about your teaching and support
• Lead Group Jams including leading songs for the week and assisting students in directed practice time helping students on the basics of piano, drums, voice, guitar, bass, violin, and more
• Teach rhythm as a foundation for all instruments
• Attend quarterly meetings
• Perform other miscellaneous tasks

Qualifications & Qualities

• Strong communication skills
• Music theory background, music degree or formal training, strongly preferred
• Proficiency in multiple instruments
• Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
• Strong classroom and group management skills
• Ability to create a fun, engaging learning environment
• Passionate about music as a shared experience, not just technical mastery

Hours & Pay

• This position is for an independent contractor
• Approximately 4-8 hours a week with potential for increase (dependent on your availability and school’s needs)
• Flexible working hours based on class schedules and student availability
• Availability to teach during peak lesson times, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends
• Other events and concert participation outside of regular teaching hours (approximately 12 shows per year)
• Starting pay dependent upon experience
• Hired teacher covers all of his/her own business expenses
• Ex: copies, music, instruments, laptop, etc. (studio space for lessons is covered by JamtotheBeat)

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
