Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while ensuring proper radiation safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and review medical histories to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive care measures.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, dietary habits, and post-treatment care to promote lifelong dental health.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization of dental equipment to prevent cross-contamination.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic environment.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Hands-on experience with dental equipment operation, X-ray techniques, and infection control procedures.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs accurately and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards and HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for optimal workflow.
