Position Summary

JAE’S Electric is seeking a detail-oriented and self-driven Estimator who can own the bid pipeline end-to-end — no hand-holding, no forgotten bids. The right candidate will have strong takeoff skills, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to manage the full estimating process from award to submittal without reminders. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of the pipeline, communicates clearly with GCs and the internal team, and delivers accurate, competitive bids on schedule. Objectives

  • Perform accurate labor, material, and scope takeoffs on commercial and government electrical projects.
  • Own the bid pipeline tracker end-to-end — no unmanaged or forgotten bids.
  • Maintain an independent follow-up cadence with GCs and owners at 95% compliance.
  • Prepare detailed bid packages with clear inclusions and exclusions on every submittal.
  • Provide accurate probability weighting and award timing forecasting within ±10–15%.
  • Escalate bids over $100K or strategic risk per internal SOP.
  • Collaborate with project managers and superintendents on scope and cost inputs.
  • Build and maintain supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure competitive pricing.

Competencies

  • Delivers accurate takeoffs and competitive bids on commercial and government scopes.
  • Owns the estimating SOP without reminders — disciplined, consistent, and proactive.
  • Communicates clearly with GCs, owners, suppliers, and the internal team.
  • Maintains a clean, current pipeline tracker with accurate bid status at all times.
  • Demonstrates strong follow-through and professional accountability on every bid.
  • Adapts to changing scopes, timelines, and project conditions.
  • Continually develops skills and grows toward senior estimating ownership.

Education and Experience

  • 3–5 years of electrical estimating experience, commercial or government preferred but will train the right person.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and scope documents.
  • Strong working knowledge of material pricing, labor productivity, and bid structure.
  • Experience with estimating software a plus.
  • Electrical field background a plus but not required.

Compensation & benefits

Compensation

  • Estimator L2 — Pipeline Owner: $25–$30/hr
  • Senior Estimator / Department Owner (advancement path): $70,000–$90,000 salary
