Wastewater Maintenance Technician (Training Provided)

Looking for a stable, hands-on career with purpose? Jacobs Engineering, contracted through the City of Traverse City, is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician for our wastewater operations.
You don’t need prior wastewater experience. If you’re mechanically or electrically inclined, have mechanic experience, or come from oil & gas or industrial maintenance, we will train you to succeed.
This is a career path position, ideal for entry-level candidates with a great attitude and willingness to learn, or for experienced technicians looking to expand into infrastructure and reliability.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and repair pumps, motors, valves, and piping systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, from control panels to wiring.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning.
- Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, and performance.
- Follow strict safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Collaborate with a supportive team of technicians and staff.
- Participate in an on-call rotation (compensation provided)
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Occasional overtime as needed.
- Paid on-call rotation
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Hands-on experience in mechanical or electrical work (industrial maintenance, mechanic roles, oil & gas, or similar fields preferred)
- Strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Valid driver’s license with clean record
- Ability to work in confined spaces and outdoors in all weather.
- Basic computer skills and diagnostic tool use.
