Overview
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Planner specializing in Aerospace to join our innovative team. Jaco is a manufacturer of precision machined parts and components, supplying the US Aerospace and Defense industries. Our facility is located in the Northern Anaheim area and we are well established, have strong market growth and have a rare opening to expand our operations. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Planner to join our team. This is position we are willing to train the right person for this role. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our Production Planning team. Core Job Duties:
Your primary role is to serve as THE focal for insuring that all the necessary planning, documents, resources, and reviews are accomplished prior to a part going to production.
Working solo and as part of the Planning Review team, to review new contracts from our Customers and their fulfillment requirements. Review the new contracts from the customers, and gather all necessary customer furnished 2D drawings, 3D models, parts lists, specifications, work instructions, specifications.
Research prior or past orders for the item, or similar parts made prior, and gather all necessary shop planner documents, CAD programs, setup sheets and drawings, work instructions, inspection plans, etc.. in order to facilitate planning of the new order. Review prior orders for necessary changes to be made and incorporate those changes.
Meet with Planning Committee team to organize, create, to realize, all the manufacturing documents needed to fulfill a new order: Meet with Quality, Production, Programming to brainstorm and determine best machining practices and methods to utilize, and the tooling requirements. The candidate will be responsible for documenting these meetings, and creating all required production planning documentation, and for collecting all required drawings, documents, programs, specifications. To organize all documentation from these meetings and various departments to realize the production.
Formalize and document the manufacturing steps required by the creation of a written manufacturing plan. This is done using input from Manufacturing, Programming, and Quality Control team members. Complete and generate the Job Router/ Planning package using the above data including creating lists of the required CNC programs, materials, machines, cutters, inspection tools, cutting tools fixtures, shop sketches, inspection plans, anything necessary to realize production.
Work as a facilitator, and Project Manager to insure that the Planning Process has all elements covered, that a proper Planning Comitte Review has been conducted, and that all required documentation, all approval steps have been completed.
Review completed orders. Update any documentation, CAD programs, shop travelers and insure that changes incorporated were documented fully for the next production run.
Manage, organize, inventory and monitor shop tooling, fixtures, cutters, storage and organization and inventories.
Insure timely backup, deletion, management of shop floor documentation, machine G code programs are downloaded and backed up.
Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency across manufacturing areas.
Coordinate process engineering activities including CAM programming, GD&T application, and production planning.
Support manufacturing facility operations by ensuring compliance with AS9100 standards and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on mechanical design modifications, tooling development, CNC machining processes, and industrial equipment upgrades.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or candidate in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
The ability to read and interpret machined parts drawings: 2D paper engineering drawings, aka. "prints" and interrogating 3D CAD models.
Understanding of GD&T Geometric Tolerancing symbology per ANSI Y14 utilized in the fabrication of precision machined parts.
Background in lean manufacturing methodologies, continuous improvement processes, and AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards compliance.
Familiarity with BOM Build of Materials, Parts Lists, manufacturing specifications.
Exposure via either actual work experience or formal education, to a machine shop environment, and general machine shop best practices.
Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering degree or Degree candidate is highly desired.
Proficiency with office applications to perform the job such as MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and CAD viewing software, and PDF scanning experience.
Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
Mechanical knowledge related to tooling design, CNC machining, and factory automation systems.
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment as a facilitator, and as a Project Manager to insure that the Planning Process and Review, and that all required documentation, all approval steps have been documented and completed.
Experience, exposure and basic functional usage skills of CAD / CAM related software applications for reading and interpretation, as well as simple model and drawing creation of shop aide sketches, basic tooling models. Knowledge of applications such as Solidworks, Catia, Mastercam, Fusion is desired.
Must be a US Citizen or equivalent for compliance to US Govt ITAR requirements
