Keeper Assistant (Part-Time)

Keeper Assistant (Part-Time)
The role is responsible for the care and feeding of assigned animals and maintenance of assigned areas with animal care, exhibit maintenance, and public interaction:
- Animal Care: Inspect, feed and clean. Observe/record. Maintain daily records.
- Exhibit Maintenance: General cleaning and maintenance of enclosures and assigned areas.
- Public Interaction: An energetic and effective communicator to convey in an array of settings; presentations, public speaking, events the basic facts of natural history to guest and participate in delivery of education programs and tours. biological and natural history knowledge of specimens maintained and their unique requirements.
Do you have…
- High school diploma or equivalent?
- Valid Florida Drivers license?
- Experience or interest in animal care?
- Flexible schedule outside of typical working hours, with the ability and willingness to work occasional nights or weekends, as necessary?
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Science degree in Zoo Technology or four-year degree in zoology or related field.
- Previous experience in a zoological park.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without difficulty.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions including rain, heat, and cold.
- Must be able to traverse zoo grounds on foot.
- Must be able to bend, lift, rake and sweep without difficulty.
