Job Summary
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Coaching, teaching student-athletes how to
perform and excel in flag football, practice and game scheduling, recruiting, travel coordination,
budget management, and fundraising. Approximately 70% of the Head Coach’s responsibility will be dedicated to the instruction of flag football through on-field training sessions and classroom teaching using film review and other coaching techniques. The remaining 30% will focus on recruiting, program development, and other administrative duties. The Head Coach will be expected to build and develop the Women’s Flag Football Club program in alignment with Jacksonville University and club league guidelines.

Duties/Responsibilities
TEACHING/INSTRUCTING STUDENT-ATHLETES HOW TO DEVELOP AND PERFORM IN THE SPORT OF FLAG FOOTBALL – Responsible for:
- Instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organizing and directing individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach
- Assess players’ skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students
COACHING – Responsible for:
- All on- and off-field coaching
SCHEDULING– Responsible for:
- Scheduling of all competitions and practices
- Submit practice schedules to reserve the desired fields
FINANCIAL AID– Responsible for:
- Understanding Jacksonville University regulations and NCAA and Club regulations, as necessary
- Initiating process for initial and renewal grants
- Consistently updating team rosters
BUDGETS– Responsible for:
- Assisting in annual budget preparation
- Staying within the amount budgeted for the fiscal year
- Having all expenditures pre-approved through appropriate channels
TRAVEL– Responsible for:
- Initiating process for all travel arrangements and submitting reports within 48 hours of return
EQUIPMENT/APPAREL– Responsible for:
- Pre- and Post-season inventory
- Care and maintenance of all equipment/apparel, and facilities
- Initiating process to order equipment/apparel
ACADEMICS– Responsible for:
- Supporting all Department of Athletics policies on classroom attendance, study hall, progress reports and enforcing disciplinary actions
FUNDRAISING– Responsible for:
- Getting prior approval from the Development Officer before initiating a fundraising activity
- Devising new methods of fundraising
- Being available for Departmental fundraising activities
- Following guidelines established by the Department, University, and the NCAA for fundraising activities, as applicable
PAPERWORK – Responsible for:
- Completing all paperwork by the established athletic department
RECRUITING– Responsible for:
- Arranging financially responsible recruiting trips
- Recruiting students who will be an asset to the University and Department of Athletics and graduate in a timely manner
Required Skills/Abilities
• Knowledge of NCAA flag football rules and club sports governance
• Mastery of the sport of Flag Football
• Ability to lead, guide, and direct assistants
• Willingness to form relationships with constituents and fundraise
Education and Experience
- Minimum Education Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, master’s degree preferred
- Minimum Work Experience:
- Two years of collegiate coaching experience at the NCAA Division I preferred
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with NCAA Division I Rules and Regulations
- Proven recruiting and fundraising abilities
- Demonstrated leadership skills
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform essential job duties or have special accommodations arranged in advance
Work Conditions:
- Required to work atypical hours, including nights, weekends, and potential holidays
- May be required to practice in heat, cold, or inclement weather
