What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Massage Therapist position at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute?
Job Purpose: Treat patients in the Rehabilitation Clinics to improve joint function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide treatment for medical conditions or injuries as prescribed by physician.
- Provide patients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement and stretching, strengthening and rehabilitative exercises.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient files after each visit.
- Maintain treatment room(s) in a neat and professional manner.
- Adhere to patient care standards and HIPAA guidelines.
Position Requirements:
- Valid Massage Therapist License in the State of Florida.
- Prior experience in a rehabilitation center preferred.
- Ability to provide consecutive patient treatments over 6-8 hour period, based on the clinic’s needs.
- Ability to travel between worksites may be required.
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact appropriately with patients, physicians and staff.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Customer service oriented.
- Computer proficient.
Working Conditions: Fast paced Orthopaedic rehabilitation center.
Physical Demands: Ability to stand and be physically active for extended periods of time. Demonstrate manual dexterity and adeptness using the hands to massage. Occasionally lift, handle and carry massage therapy equipment (up to 20-30 lbs). Assist with transfer or skillful positioning of patients. Give and receive clear verbal communication to and from patients.
