Role Description The ESE Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located at Jacksonville Classical Academy in Jacksonville, FL. This role is responsible for planning and delivering specialized instruction to students with exceptional student education needs in alignment with the school’s classical curriculum. Daily responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting lesson plans and materials, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with general education teachers to support inclusive practices. The ESE Teacher communicates regularly with families and support staff, maintains accurate documentation, and participates in professional development and school-wide initiatives that promote student growth and character development.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Education and Teaching, with experience working with students receiving exceptional student education services.
- Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum adaptation to meet diverse learning needs.
- Effective Communication skills for collaborating with students, families, colleagues, and support staff.
- Ability to provide Training and guidance to classroom staff on accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education/ESE or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Commitment to the principles of classical education, character formation, and civic virtue.
- Ability to maintain organized records, manage time effectively, and support a positive, structured classroom environment.
