You will evaluate and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders in an acute hospital setting. The role requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to plan for discharge, timely equipment trialing, patient and family training, and documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements. You will uphold professional standards, participate in performance improvement activities, and contribute to a safe work environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited educational program.
- Completed Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) and current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA.
- Active state SLP license required to start the assignment.
- BLS certification from American Heart Association or ARC may be required.
- Experience in an acute hospital setting with evaluation and treatment of adult dysphagia and cognitive-communication disorders.
- Proficiency with medical record documentation, writing goals, letters of medical necessity, and discharge planning in accordance with hospital and payer guidelines.
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and provide patient and family training, including home exercise programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with safe patient handling and materials handling protocols in a hospital.
- Familiarity with performance improvement processes and participation in student supervision.
Assignment Details
- Shift pattern: 5x8 day schedule.
- May be required to float to other regional facilities as needed.
