Description
The Department of History, Philosophy, and Geography in the College of Liberal Arts is accepting applications for its Assistant Professor position.
Examples of Duties
Teaching Load is between 9-12 credit hours per semester, commensurate with faculty.
Commitment to maintaining 30 hours of institution time and 10 office hours a week.
Teaching a mix of graduate, advanced undergraduate, and survey courses, on-line, face to face, and hybrid classes.
Knowledge in the field and willingness to counsel and mentor graduate/undergraduate students at Jackson State University.
Maintaining an active and productive research agenda.
Willingness to teach qualitative and mixed research methods classes, as needed.
Attending workshops (particular in the use of technology), seminars, and webinars called by the department, the college, or University.
Other responsibility as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
PhD degree in African-American History, experience preferred, Women’s History, Digital History, and Film and History Seminar.
Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills.
Willingness to participate in interdisciplinary programs, and in external grants proposal writing.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities, cultures, and backgrounds.
Experience in and willingness to improve teaching methods with enhanced I.T. innovations in the classroom.
