What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Childcare Team Member (Part-Time or Full-Time) position at Jackson School of the Arts?
Compensation: $14–$19/hour, based on experience, availability, and fit
Schedule: Shifts scheduled between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday
We are hiring Childcare Team Members for our summer Childcare Academy. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and want to be part of a collaborative, team-based classroom environment.
Our summer childcare program serves children ages 3–8 and includes a balance of structured activities, creative exploration, and arts-based experiences.
Duties for this role include:
- Support daily classroom activities, including structured lessons, play-based learning, and arts-based programming
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for children
- Build positive relationships with children that support confidence, self-regulation, and engagement
- Help guide small groups of children throughout the day in a collaborative classroom setting
- Support implementation of daily schedules, including transitions, activities, and routines
- Assist with snack and lunchtime supervision
- Supervise children during restroom use and outdoor play
- Observe children and communicate important developmental or behavioral notes to the team
- Follow all licensing guidelines and maintain compliance with safety and supervision standards
- Assist in classroom setup, cleanup, and daily organization
- Provide comfort and support to children as needed throughout the day
- Help maintain structure and flow in the classroom, including stepping in to support when needed
Qualifications:
- Age 16 or older
- Experience working with children (babysitting, nannying, camp, classroom, etc.)
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and a positive, dependable attitude
- Comfort working with children ages 3–8
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a classroom, childcare center, or early childhood setting
- Familiarity with child development and age-appropriate practices
- Willingness to learn and follow state licensing rules and regulations
Schedule & Compensation:
- Summer seasonal position
- Approximately 15–40 hours per week, depending on availability and role needs
- Hourly rate: $14–$19/hour, based on experience and fit
