JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Extern performs a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing
functions and activities of daily living under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and/or Licensed
Practical Nurse (LPN) in a complementary and assistive role.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
X? High school diploma or equivalent ? Preferred X? Required
X? Graduate of a Program in Discipline X ? Preferred ? Required
Must be a student enrolled in an RN program with completion of one year of school.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be
able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications: X? Basic Life Support (BLS) X ? CNA or SRNA Required if the nursing school program is
discontinued or may be required to transfer to a PCA position.
