School Counselor

Job Summary
SCMV Options is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team in at SCMV & SCMV Options @ Jackson High School (9-12). The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students. The School Counselor will work collaboratively with students, parents, and faculty to create a positive and inclusive school environment, promoting the overall well-being of each student.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, social, and emotional challenges.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students in need of support and develop intervention strategies.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate students' needs and progress, providing appropriate recommendations for support.
• Facilitate workshops and programs on topics such as conflict resolution, stress management, and career exploration.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations.
• Act as a liaison between students, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.
• Participate in the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives aimed at improving student well-being and academic success.
• Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in school counseling and mental health support.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Valid state certification or licensure as a School Counselor.
• Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Knowledge of counseling techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and educational resources.
• Proficient in using technology and software for record-keeping and communication.
• Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment that supports all students.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
