Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of a small glass and paint retail store. This pivotal role requires a proactive leader who can drive sales, manage inventory, supervise staff, and ensure exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, a passion for retail, and the ability to motivate a team to achieve store goals while maintaining a welcoming shopping environment. As the face of the store, you will be responsible for creating an efficient, organized, and profitable operation that meets community needs and promotes growth.

Duties

  • Lead all aspects of store management, including sales, customer service, inventory control, and staff supervision.
  • Recruit, interview, train, and develop team members to ensure high performance and excellent customer interactions.
  • Manage daily store operations such as opening and closing procedures, cash handling, POS (Point of Sale) systems, and payroll processing.
  • Oversee purchasing decisions for glass products, paints, and related supplies while maintaining optimal stock levels through effective inventory management.
  • Implement merchandising strategies to enhance product displays and promote sales initiatives aligned with marketing plans.
  • Monitor store financials by managing budgets, pricing strategies, retail math calculations, and bookkeeping tasks to ensure profitability.
  • Foster a positive work environment by providing employee orientation, ongoing training & development opportunities, and clear communication.
  • Handle customer inquiries with professionalism via phone etiquette and in-person interactions; resolve complaints promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular supervision of shift management activities including cashiering, stock stocking, inventory control, and sales management.
  • Utilize management skills to optimize staffing schedules for peak hours while ensuring efficient store operations at all times.

Requirements

  • Proven management experience in retail settings; prior assistant manager or supervisory roles preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of retail math, pricing strategies, inventory management systems (POS), and merchandising principles.
  • Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse customers effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with experience in team management, training & development, and employee orientation.
  • Skilled in negotiation, recruiting talent, payroll administration, bookkeeping, budgeting, and cash handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with retail sales techniques including marketing strategies for small stores specializing in glassware and paints.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently with strong organizational skills; experience in retail grocery or hardware stores is a plus.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the capacity to supervise daily operations while maintaining focus on long-term goals.
