Summary:
To help students resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform casework service with individual students to correct those personal, social, emotional, maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.
- Perform casework service with parents to increase the parents’ understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
- Consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student’s behavior.
- Works collaborative with agencies to identify, promote, and develop screening, diagnosis and treatment services in the school system.
- Participate in screenings, staff meetings, IEP conferences, and staffing and eligibility meetings as assigned.
- Make home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student’s background and to share health care information with parents and students.
- Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Board of Education and superintendent of Schools
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in social work
